Nicole, Community Engagement Coordinator
Nicole’s resume is an eclectic collection of careers and side hustles - almost two decades spent as management in various grocery and convenience stores, dabbling in daycare and barista-ing, professional cleaning and a brief time working with service dogs. She spent 7 years working with at-risk youth and nearly completed her Bachelor's degree in Social Work
While the LC Valley is her home for almost 20 years, she grew up just outside of Stockton, California where sunshine and palm trees loomed over her childhood adventures.
An affinity for reading and delight in sharing, Nicole started Bee’s Knees Free Book Program - EVERY KID. EVERY VISIT - with her Dad in mind. He would go away on long trips, but returned with love and calmness, and new books. Amazing titles such as Bembelmens Bakery by Melinda Green, Miss Suzy by Miriam Young, The Goat In The Rug by Charles L. Blood and Martin Link. And of course, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. She will happily talk books for hours.
With the heart of an artist, she will paint, glue, cut and create to express joy for being in this world. She holds fast to her belief that every living being is worthy of peace and respect, and access to a life of love. Working at Bee’s Knees provides an endless opportunity to share her passion for thrifting, spending time with local community members, and getting the most for every dollar spent! Everyone needs an “Ice Breaker”, and if you ask nicely, she will sing the alphabet backwards just for you.
